Accelerating structure for high-current electron beams

  • 1. Moskovskij Inzhenerno-Fizicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

Resonance type accelerating structure designed for acceleration of electron beams with the current of 10-100 A is suggested and investigated. The structure presents zigzag-like (with the bend in the E-plane) rectangular waveguide with the beam holes in the wide wall with matched load and with excitation on the H10 wave. The structure analysis is carried out in the approximation of the ''given current'', without account of ohmic losses. Investigation of the effect of higher type waves excitated by a beam upon the values of e.c. and the power reflected to the generator depending on the structure and the beam parameters is carried out. It is shown that at the optimum selection of the structure parameters e.c. up to 100% can be reached
