Chaotic behaviour of the nuclear shell-model hamiltonian

Description

Large scale nuclear shell-model calculations for several nuclear systems are discussed. In particular, the statistical baheviour of the energy eigenvalues and eigenstates, are discussed. The chaotic behaviour of the NSMH is then shown to be quite useful in calculating the spreading width of the highly collective multipole giant resonances. (author)

Abstract (Portuguese)

Discutem-se calculos do modelo de camada nuclear em larga escala para diversos sistemas nucleares. Em particular, e discutido o comportamento estatistico dos atuovalores e auto-estados. O comportamento caotico do NSMH e entrao indicado por sua utilidade no calculo do alargamento de picos de ressonancias de multipolo coletivo gigantes. (M.W.O.)
