A visit to the European Nuclear Research Centre (CERN) in Geneva

Describes some of the latest equipment for work on the discovery of new particles, e.g. OMEGA, the largest equipment for recording tracks and for the pulse analysis of secondary particles produced from a target consisting of liquid hydrogen, using a 18 kilogauss magnetic field produced by superconductor circuits; a hydrogen bubble chamber; a synchrocyclotron.
