Fast breeder reactor
Description
Purpose: To enable rapid maintenance, inspection and repair of a fast breeder reactor immediately after its operation is stopped. Constitution: Sodium in an overflow tank is fed by a pump to a sodium purification system formed of a cold trap and a heat exchanger, the temperature of the cold trap is maintained at a specified temperature, and the sodium is purified. When it is necessary to approach the cold trap, its temperature is gradually raised while circulating the sodium through the cold trap. Since 131I removed by the cold trap is dissolved in this manner, the sodium in the cold trap is drained to a shielded tank, and the radiation dosage around the cold trap can be reduced. (Sekiya, K.)
