Description
Taking (y, psub(tau) as fundamental coordinate and a formula for the structure function for the reaction p + p → πsup(+-) + X obtained from the hydrodynamical model, the relation between the incident primary proton energy Esub(p) and the secondary pion energy Esub(π) in the laboratory frame has been estimated. The relation follows the form Esub(π) = (4/B)[Esub(p)/(2msub(p))]sup(0.75) erf(L/2)sup(1/2) where L is the Landau parameter, B 6.25, and msub(p) = 0.938 GeV is the proton mass. (author)
