Gamma radiation effect on properties of cardo polyamide based on anilinofluorene and terephthalic acid
- 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Ehlementoorganicheskikh Soedinenij
Description
The behaviour has been studied of a most promising aromatic poliamide under γ-radiation in air and under vacuum. Vacuum irradiation leads mainly to the distruction of polymer chains complicated by branching processes, whereas a clear stitching process occurs under vacuum. The most vulnerable point in poliamide micromolecules is shown to be the amide bond, although its radiation resistance is found to be superior over the complex ether bond of a poliarilate of similar structure. Probability parameters of stitching branching and polymer chain destruction have been calculated. Based on the data obtained and the analysis of radiolysis products, the principle features of radiochemical transformations of poliamide macrochains is outlined
