Implementation of modified homogeneous equilibrium break discharge model in CATHENA and application to canadian SCWR LOCA transient analysis

  • 1. Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, Chalk River, ON (Canada)

Description

This paper investigates the applicability of the modified break discharge model in the thermalhydraulics system code CATHENA at supercritical conditions. Two methodologies for the implementation are assessed in this paper. A comparison between the homogeneous and the modified homogeneous break discharge models is performed and assessed (validated) using available experiment benchmark data. The results are used to verify the Canadian concept SCWR LOCA transient analyses. (author)
