Elastic scattering and cluster transfer in the interactions of beryllium ions with a carbon

Description

The investigation of angular distributions of the elastic scattering 12C+9Be and of the reaction 12C(9Be,α)17O is carried out. Analysis of angular distributions of elastic scattering has been performed taking into account physically indistinguishable mechanism of 3He nucleus pick-up reaction from the 12C nucleus. This mechanism permits to decribe well angular distributions at all angles including those in the back hemisphere using ''fine'' optical potential. The proposed method of describing elastic scattering of heavy ions may permit to make more unambiguous the procedure of deriving of optical potential parameters from scattering data. The obtained optical potentnal of 9Be+12C interaction has been applied for the investigation of the transfer reaction with ions 9Be12C(9Be, α)17O. For the above reaction α particle angular distributions for the group of 17O nucleus levels with a large excatation cross section and for the basic and first excited states of this nucleus are studied. For the reaction amplitude calculation the assumption on the two physically indistinguishable mechanisms of the 5He nucleus transfer and pick-up of the 8Be has been used. Calculation results of the reaction angular distributions show satisfactory agreement with experimental data
