Design and performance of two 10 kA superconducting switches
Description
The transfer of energy from superconducting magnet coils with currents of 10,000 A or more with stored energy of 300 kJ or more using superconducting switches is discussed. Switching is done by driving the device to its normal resistive state by current pulsing to above its critical current. The construction and performance of two switches are described. (U.S.)
