Dosimetric Characteristics of a Teflon-Carbon Mixture for the Construction of Cavity Chambers for Measurement of Absorbed Dose in the Air
- 1. CEA, Centre d'Études Nucléaires de Saclay (France)
Description
The theoretical calculation of the dose absorbed in air, based on dose measurements in a cavity within a given material, provides a means of determining the required correction factor and the conditions under which one material will be equivalent to another from the dosimetric point of view. A comparison of the materials currently in use for the construction of ionization chambers, such as graphite, nylon, etc. with Teflon-carbon, shows the latter to be an excellent air-equivalent material and demonstrates its value for the construction of cavity-type ionization chambers. Abstract (French)
