Effect of heat treatment on the stability of damping capacity in hypoeutectic Mg-Si alloy

Description

As-cast hypoeutectic Mg-Si alloy showed a high damping capacity at room temperature. This resulted from the co-effect of damping peaks P 0 and P 1 which were detected at 0 deg. C and 100 deg. C, respectively. P 0 and P 1 were considered to possess similar properties and they were caused by the interaction between dislocations and impurity atoms or vacancies. Heat treatment strongly influenced the damping capacity of this Mg-Si alloy
