Automatic positioning of the electron beam at the Orsay linear accelerator

Description

The prospects of using high intensity beams for the production of positrons on the linear Accelerator at Orsay evolve the necessity of a stable and fast centering method. This necessity triggered the study of a modular device of automatic positioning of the electron beam. A description and an analysis of this device which associates position and intensity sensors with centering coils are given. The article presents the results obtained on a portion of the accelerator

Abstract (French)

La perspective d'utiliser sur l'Accelerateur Lineaire d'Orsay des faisceaux tres intenses d'electrons, pour la production de positrons, fait apparaitre la necessite d'un centrage rapide et stable. Cette exigence a donne naissance a l'etude d'un systeme modulaire de positionnement automatique du faisceau d'electrons. Ce systeme, qui associe les capteurs de position et d'intensite a des bobines de guidage, est decrit et analyse. Les resultats obtenus sur une tranche de l'Accelerateur sont presentes
