Large scale line splitting associated with the dense neutral intrusions and ionization fronts in the core of M8
Description
A large area where the [O III] line is distinctly split was discovered and mapped in the very core of M8. This was carried out with a Fabry–Perot monochromator. These motions appear to be related to the ionization fronts which are moving into the obvious neutral volumes in this nebula. A model is presented which seeks to explain many of the observed phenomena of this complex of H II, H I, dust, molecules and stars.
