Description

A test stand for the proof of principle experiments of He0 beam production has been constructed aiming at development of an alpha particle diagnostic system in next generation fusion reactors. The characteristics of a He- beam produced in Lithium vapor has been studied. With an increase in the vapor pressure in the cell, mitigation of space charge in a He+ beam and bunching of a He- beam which travels part of the way with the He+ beam have been observed.
