Description
The effect of paramagnetic impurities on superconductors with energy-gap anisotropy is studied using the Shiba-Rusinov theory and treating the ordinary and exchange interactions equally. The Abrikosov-Gor'kov-theory results are a special case of our calculations. The transition temperature T/sub c/ and the jump in specific heat at T/sub c/ are calculated. The emphasis is to clarify the roles of the ordinary and the exchange interactions in the electron-impurity scattering. The difference between the results of the Shiba-Rusinov and Abrikosov-Gor'kov theories is brought out
