Internal kink modes in a noncircular high-β plasma

  • 1. Rostov State University

Description

The effects of a small ellipticity and a small triangularity of the tokamak cross section on the stability of internal kink modes with m> or =1 are studied. These effects result from the toroidal nature of the magnetic field and the finite value of the plasma pressure. If the deviations from a circular cross section are chosen appropriately, the inner kink modes with m> or =1 are stable at a high pressure and with a low gradient of the longitudinal current density
