Radiodiagnosis of vertebral osteomyelitis

Description
An X-ray picture of hematogenous osteomyelitis of the vertebrae in 120 adult patients, the peculiarities of the X-ray time course of the process, succession of the appearance of some signs of disease, the nature of productive reactions of bone tissues, and paravertebral abscesses were studied. X-ray diagnosis was verified by operative findings and laboratory investigation of pathological tissues. With relation to a degree of vertebral destruction 3 types of disease were defined with prevalence of limited lesions now. X-ray studies were supplemented by venospondilography pemitting considerable improvement of radiodiagnosis of vertebral osteomyelitis
