Method of spin traps. Mechanism of hydroxy-isopropyl radicals in the radiolysis of acetone
Description
The mechanism of (CH3)2COH radical formation is studied at gamma-irradiation of acetone at 20 and -80 deg C with the help of the tert-butyl-methylene-nitrone (MN). The EPR spectra of MN adducts with (CH3)2COH radical are presented. The yield of adducts of MH with (CH3)2COH increases with the increase of MH concentration and reaches the constant value of 2.1-+0.2 radical/100 eV at [MH]=0.1M and irradiation temperatures of -80 and 20 deg C. The yield of MH adducts with (CH3)2COH decreases up to 1.1-+0.1 radical/100 eV when 0.1-0.2 M naphthalene added into the system
