Description
The author discusses the phase structure of QCD and the state of relevant lattice calculations. He reviews the hydrodynamical model of the central rapidity region in relativistic heavy ion collisions. He presents a calculation, based on these ingredients, of strangeness production and annihilation in a collision in which a quark-gluon plasma was produced
