Method and device of pelletizing radioactive dry powder wastes containing spent ion exchange resins
Description
Purpose: To prepare pellets capable of varying the configuration corresponding to the final processing situation and having such a strength as capable of withstanding a temporary storage. Method: Dry powder wastes containing spent ion exchange resins are heated under stirring while maintaining a temperature at a level higher than the glass-transition point of the spent ion exchange resins and at a predetermined temperature lower than the decomposing point, preferably, from 90 to 180 deg C and then subjected to compression molding into pellets. In this method, dry powder wastes incorporated with less pelletizable ion exchange resin powder can be pelletized merely by the temperature control even if a great amount of ion exchange resins is incorporated.
