Description
A formalism is presented for the calculation of the solubility of rare gases in liquid sodium. It is shown that a term related to the decrease in solvent-solvent attractions on adding one solute molecule is expressed by a formula due to Faber for the energies of formation of vacancies in metals. The results, obtained by using Faber's formula, are encouraging. (author)
