The etching characteristics of nuclear tracks in glass detectors

  • 1. Dept. of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev Univ., Amritsar (India)

Description

The etching characteristics of fission tracks are studied in a number of glass samples of varying silica content. A comparative study of etching behaviour has been made by comparing the calculated value of bulk etch rate for each glass. The present investigation suggests that bulk etch rate increases with the decrease in silica content of glasses. A minimum value of bulk etch rate is observed for pure silica glass. (author)
