Surface morphological changes induced by narrow beam bombardment
Description
Changes in the roughness of 316 stainless steel, titanium and alumina used as surgical implant materials, and of tantalum by ion sputtering have been measured. A visible reduction in maximum, mean and relative roughness was observed for very oblique (near-glancing) ion beam incidence. (U.K.)
