Description
Hepatitis C is a major health issue worldwide. WHO estimates that about 170 million people, 3% of the world's population, are infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) and the prevalence of 0.5% to greater than 10% has been found in population samples around the world. 2.3. Hepatitis C is also prevalent in Pakistan. HCV gives rise to both acute and chronic hepatitis. HCV infection is associated with mixed cryoglobulinemia. Aggregation of immune complexes induces vasculitic changes in various organs. In skin, it manifests as palpable purpura, livedo reticularis and urticaria. (author)
