Technological aspects for aes

  • 1. Accelerators and Ion Sources Dept., Nuclear Research Center, Atomic Energy Authority P.O. Box 13759, Cairo, (Egypt)

Description

A brief description of the auger process, the electron beam technique and the optical parameters affecting the electron beam properties are discussed. The technological aspects and operation of the electron gun are also illustrated. An experimental study is made for electron beam diagnostic as a primary beam for auger electron spectroscopy. Also the first and second derivatives, for auger spectra, are experimentally analyzed for copper, brass, nickel and iron samples. A security device for cooling systems is designed and constructed to save suitable vacuum conditions for electron gun operation and prevent damages of the high vacuum pumps caused by the cooling flow and/or electrical mains supply cut off
