Calculation of continuum feeding times of heavy-ion fusion reactions in the A=80 region
Description
Gamma-ray intensities, multiplicities and feeding times of continuum cascades are Monte Carlo simulated for heavy-ion fusion evaporation reactions in the mass A=70-80 region. It is found that the measured short feeding times and their spin dependence are reasonably well accounted for in many cases if collective E2 transitions as fast as in the yrast band are assumed to take place in a 3-MeV-wide band parallel to the yrast line. The influence of several other parameters, e.g. projectile mass and energy, the giant dipole resonance and yrast lines in competing evaporation residues, are discussed. (orig.)
