Description
Argillaceous clays are being considered as one of the suitable clay host rock for deep geological repository for disposal of nuclear high level waste worldwide. In Indian context, Vindhya argilliteis under evaluation for clay rock based repository. In the present study, the characterization of clay and sorption studies of Cs(I) and Am(III) has been carried out. Owing to higher sorption capacity, the Vindhyan argillite is suitable to retard the migration of radionuclides. However, further investigations such as Am(III) sorption isotherm, modeling of sorption profiles of Cs(I) and Am(III) on Vindhyanargillite are in progress to get the detailed insight about the retention behaviour of these clays
