Spectrometer of γ-ray full absorption for β-decay strength function measuring

Description

A spectrometer of full absorption is described. The spectrometer operation principle is based on summation of energies of cascade gamma quanta. Conditions in which the spectrometer can be used for obtaining data on strength functions of beta transitions in a wide range of excitations energies, are formulated. Two NaI crystals are used in the spectrometer. Main crystal having 200x200 mm dimensions includes a wall, where a radioactive source is placed; additional crystal has 200x100 mm dimensions. Well dimensions are 40x100 mm. Energy resolution of the spectrometer amounts to 12 18% in the energy range from 0.5 to 4 MeV. It i-s shown on the example of beta decay of sup(110m)Ag, 124Sb and 154Tb that such a spectrometer permits to obtain qualitatively new information on the nuclide decay scheme
