Heat exchanges in liquid metals

Description

After some comments on the use of liquid metals as coolants in nuclear reactors, this research thesis reports the study of laws of heat transmission, first in the most common case of a ducted turbulent flow, and then in the case of a flow around a cylinder. The high thermal conductivity of liquid metals results in very high coefficients of heat exchange between wall and liquid. Their theoretical calculation is different from that of usual liquids, and is notably based on the use of the Prandtl number and the rate between terms associated with heat turbulent exchange and momentum

Abstract (French)

Apres quelques considerations sur l'utilisation des metaux liquides conne refrigerants dans les reacteurs nucleaires nous etudions les lois de transmission de chalcur, d'abord dans le cas le plus souvent rencontre de l'ecoulenent turbulent en conduite puis pour l' ecoulenent autour d'un cylindre. Ln conductivite thermique elevee des metaux liquides a pour resultat des coefficients d'echange de chaleur entre paroi et liquide tres grands. Leur calcul theorique est different de celui des liquides usuels et fait intervenir notamment le nombre de Prandtl et le rapport des termes designant les echanges turbulents de chaleur et de quantite de mouvement
