Temperature change tests on welds between ferritic and austenitic steels
Description
Temperature change tests on welds between heat resistant ferritic and austenitic steels have been carried out until fracture occurred after a period of ten years. It has been possible to demonstrate that premature fracture of the connection due to temperature change can be avoided by creating a transformation with suitable linear coefficients of thermal expansion and not by preventing C-diffusion. Temperaturwechselversuche mit Schweissverbindungen zwischen warmfesten ferritischen und austenitischen Staehlen wurden nach 10jaehriger Unterbrechung bis zum Bruch fortgesetzt. Es konnte aufgezeigt werden, dass nicht durch Verhinderung der C-Diffusion, sondern durch Schaffung eines Uebergangs mit angepassten linearem Waermeausdehnungskoeffizienten ein vorzeitiger Bruch der Verbindung durch Temperaturwechsel vermieden werden kann.
