Comparison of INCL4 with experiments

Description

Some results obtained with the last version of the intra nuclear cascade code of liege (INCL4) coupled with the evaporation-fission code ABLA are compared with experiments. It is shown that without adjustment of internal parameters, most of the physics is described (total reaction cross sections, neutron and proton differential cross sections, residue mass, charge and isotopic distributions) for incident protons in the range 150 MeV-3000 MeV on targets heavier than A ∝25. Results with incident deuterons are also encouraging. Some systematic failures of the model as the underestimation of cross section for the fragmentation residues much lighter than the target mass, are pointed out and discussed. A recent account for the production of light particles (up to 4He) on the nucleus surface is presented and shown to be encouraging for the future. (orig.)
