The role of sulphur peptide functions in free radical transfer: a pulse radiolysis study

Description
Cascading transfers of free radical centres, involving sulphur and aromatic protein functions, have been studied in further detail. The disulphide radical anion appears to be an important terminus of both oxidative and reductive radical transfer. The present study deals with the redox behaviour of methionyl species, and with cascading free radical transfer, leading to the well-established equilibrium between the cysteine thiyl and disulphide anion radicals.
