Origin of x-ray sources in clusters of galaxies
Creators
Description
It is proposed that the extended x-ray sources in clusters of galaxies may be explained by a population of compact sources, like those known in our own Galaxy. To test this hypothesis a simple model for the x-ray luminosity to mass ratio is proposed and a search is made for a correlation of the x-ray luminosity with the virial mass. The results are inconclusive. Other possible tests are discussed
