Measurement of x-ray exposure by electret dosimeter

  • 1. Radiation Safety Systems Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Full text: Electret is a piece of dielectric material that can store quasi permanent electric charge. Its capacity to produce electric field is used to collect ions in an electret ionization chamber. Electret techniques have been used to measure various types of radiation. In this work electret technique has been developed to measure exposure due to x-rays. The electret dosimeter has been designed to achieve energy independence for various x-ray energies. Results of directional dependence, drop test and field measurement around x-ray machines at AFD, BARC and CDM, BARC carried out with the dosimeter have been reported
