Evaluation of the Solar Energy Use Possibilities in lithuania

The potential of solar energy in Lithuania is presented, the main technologies of its use are discussed, economical evaluation of the problem is done. the theoretical potential is huge, but the cost of heat produced by different technologies is rather high exceeding 29 ct/kWh (except passive solar system, 8 ct/kWh). The price of electricity produced using PV is higher than 5.2 ct/kWh. In the nearest future it is proposed to start with the pilot projects for more detailed investigations and to prepare for a possible commercial use of solar energy. (author). 7 tabs., 1 fig
