Development of GCS for auto-search of point gamma source using quad-rotor based aerial radiation monitoring system

  • 1. Radiation Safety Systems Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Quad-rotor based Aerial Radiation Monitoring system (QARMS) can be rapidly and easily deployed in the affected area to locate and quantify the orphan radioactive sources without radiation exposure to the monitoring personnel. The area that can be monitored is limited by the low endurance of the quad copter. This paper discusses about the development and implementation of an efficient scanning algorithm to scan the suspected area and a localization algorithm to locate the lost/ orphan radioactive source in an optimum way
