Description

This paper reports on high reproducible, low leakage tunnel junctions that have been realized on YBCO single crystals. The YBCO surface has been chemically etched using either 10 mM HClO4/1 mM NaClO4 in water or 1% Br (by volume) in methanol, then treated for 5 minutes at 100 degrees C in air before a Pb film was thermally evaporated as counterelectrode. For T > Tc of YBCO. The conductance g(V) has a very strong linear dependence with voltage; for T < Tc Gap-like structures develop at ± 5 meV and ±19 meV; peaks at +36 meV and -31 and -41 meV and a minimum at ±49 mV are always observed
