An effect of cations on sorption of 99mTcO4- at potentially using Sn-hydroxyapatite in nuclear medicine

Description

Many phosphonate compounds are used in medicine for the treating of bone diseases and metabolic disorders connected with the formation of bone tissue etc. Phosphonate compounds were labelled with 99mTc is used as imaging agent for PET or SPECT scanners for screening of bones in clinical medicine. Hydroxyapatite (HA) is an essential component of vertebrate skeleton. Due to its characteristics, the HA is used as a substitution material in dental and orthopaedic surgery. Radionuclide imaging is sensitive clinical method, which is used in the investigation of different bone lesions, in diagnosing malignant and benign cancers and the like. As radio tracers is used 99mTc in form of pertechnetate anions from 99Mo/99Tc generator. The aim of work was to determine the impact of Fe3+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ ions on sorption of 99mTcO4- on the Sn-hydroxyapatite. (authors)
