Specifics of thermovacuum decomposition of beryllium hydroxide and basic beryllium carbonate

  • 1. Ural'skij Politekhnicheskij Inst., Sverdlovsk (USSR)

Description

Free Gibbs energy, Be(OH)2 dehydration heat and critical points of Be(OH)2 and xBeCO3xyBe(OH)2xH2O decomposition are calculated. The obtained experimental data permit to make the following suppositions on dehydration mechanism and decomposition of hydroxide and the main beryllium carbonate: at T<370 K primarily physically adsorbed water is removed by H2O(ads)→H2O (g) molecular mechanism. In the 560-770 K temperature range Be(OH)2 dehydration proceeds by hydroxide mechanism
