Comparative study of thermal decomposition of citrates and coprecipitated Y,Ba,Cu carbonates

Methods of differential thermal, X-ray phase analyses, electron microscopy were used to study individual Y,Ba,Cu salts and Y:Ba:Cu=1:2:3 mixtures, prepared by citrate method (CM) and carbonate coprecipination (CPC).It is shown that the character of thermal decomposition of Y:Ba:Cu=1:2:3 citrates is dictated by peculiarities of pyrolysis of individual citrates of yttrium, barium and copper. Sufficient difference in temperature of decomposition of barium carbonate, prepared during decomposition of citrates (Y:Ba:Cu=1:2:3) and coprecipitated carbonate mixture, was not revealed. Main differences in properties of YBa2Cu3O7-y oxide, synthesized by CPC and CM methods under similar conditions, are determined by morphological features at the stage of synthesis and sintering of ceramic samples
