Core baffle and method for its construction
Description
The core baffle for the PWR consists of a cage and a jacket, being composed of individual sectional steets and adapted to the polygonal contour of the core. The cage itself consists of stacked, horizontally algined rings of sectional ribs and vertical spacer ribs. To begin with the rings of sectional ribs and the spacer ribs are welded together layer by layer. Subsequently the sectional sheets are welded together with the rings of sectional ribs and then with each other. Welding of the sectional sheets is at first performed by hand on the outside and then by means of submerged are welding on the inside. The core baffle consists of austenitic steel. (orig./DG)
