Influence of stacking fault energy on the processes of vanadium and molybdenum monocrystals polygonization
Description
Electron microscopic and X-ray analyses were used to study the straining and annealing structures of zonally purified monocrystals of molybdenum and vanadium. Straining and annealing were performed under similar crystallographic and temperature conditions. The development of polygonization in vanadium, compared with that in molybdenum, was characterized by slower formation of subgranular structures and slower growth of subgrains, this being due to the inhibiting effect of dislocation splitting upon thermally activized overcreeping of marginal dislocations and slippage of the dis;ocation helical components
