Use of streamer chambers at ISABELLE

Creators

Description

M. Chen has proposed that an effective way to search for the W would be with a streamer chamber, because of the superior momentum resolution that may be achieved. Some other useful applications of streamer chambers are considered in view of experience with them in cosmic ray, particle identification, and particle-nuclei interaction experiments. Areas where they may be useful, and some of their problems and limitations are discussed. Some potential applications include the detection and measurement of (1) heavy particle production, (2) multiply charged particles, and (3) the relativistic rise. Each of these is discussed
