Description

Adsorption characteristics of uranium on activated carbon treated with HNO3 and/or NaOH was investigated in batch and packed bed adsorption systems. Activated carbon treated with both HNO3 and NaOH or HNO3 itself showed a higer adsorption capacity than that treated with NaOH itself. As the pH of uranium solution became increased, adsorption capacity of uranium on activated carbon was increased. Based on experimental results, it is thought that the pH of uranium solution and functional group on activated carbon surface in uranium adsorption system are very important variables
