Description

The experiments performed on the Proton-3,4, Cosmos-428-490 and Intercosmos-17 satellites revealed the following properties of the albedo radiation near the equator. a) The albedo electron flux with Esub(e)>80 MeV is approximately 100 m-2sec-1ster-1 which is substantially higher than the relativistic proton flux in the albedo radiation; b) the albedo electron spectrum within 80-1000 MeV energy range can be described by power law Isub(e)(>E) approximately Esub(e)sup(-0.8) for the equatorial and medium latitude regions. At higher energies the spectrum becomes steeper; c) the East-West asymmetry in the albedo electrons with large pitch-angles is not observed; d) the albedo electron flux with large pitch-angles is independent of Rsub(vert), L near the equator
