Description

Intoxications by metallic mercury are extremely rare. Report of a patient, who tried to commit suicide by subcutaneous injection of 500 g of metallic mercury. He died 16 months later in the course of the intoxication. A short review is given of effects and reactions of metallic mercury in the human organism. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Vergiftungen durch metallisches Quecksilber sind extrem selten. Es wird ueber einen Patienten berichtet, der sich in suizidaler Absicht 500 g metallisches Quecksilber subkutan injizierte und 16 Monate spaeter and den Folgen der Selbstschaedigung verstarb. Es wird eine kurze Uebersicht ueber die Auswirkung des metallischen Quecksilbers im menschlichen Organismus gegeben. (orig.)
