Description
This new edition is based on several lectures given at the French Polytechnique high-school. It offers a simple introduction to contemporaneous elementary particle physics, illustrated with recent results of experiments. The author presents in a very pedagogical way basic concepts such as: fundamental constituents (quarks and leptons), symmetries, invariants and interactions between particles. It is shown how interaction cross-sections can be deduced from perturbation methods. Hamiltonians, annihilation and creation operators are introduced. The text is illustrated with several exercises whose solutions are given at the end of the volume
