Extrapolation of the ππ→NN-bar Ssup(I=0)-wave below 1 GeV

Description
The ππ→NN-bar helicity amplitude fsub(+)0 is computed in various ways from recent πN data and a continuous set of ππ phase shifts compatible with experimental and theoretical knowledge. Among this set, the phase shifts corresponding to a scattering length 0.3<approximately a0<approximately 0.7 are found to be in best agreement with the πN data. (author)
