Focal Bacterial Nefritis (Acute Lobar Nephronia) imitating Tumorous Formation of Kidney

The authors describe a case report of a twenty-one-month-old child with a several-day history of fever that was on the day of hospitalization complicated by febrile seizures. Urine examination revealed mild isolated leukocyturia for which ultrasound and CT abdominal examination were performed. In the upper segment of the right kidney, a solid, well-defined formation of dimensions 27 x 21 x 30 mm was shown. For suspicion for the right kidney tumor, the child was transferred to an oncology clinic, where a diagnosis of focal bacterial nephritis was established on the basis of a control ultrasound and CT examination, additional laboratory examinations and clinical findings.
