Contribution to the study of hard deposits: chemically deposited nickel-boron alloys

Description

This academic engineering report is part of a programme which aims at selecting some coating materials with high hardness, low porosity, and good workability to obtain a surface with a low roughness. It more particularly addresses the use of coatings of nickel-boron alloy, chemically deposited in baths essentially made of a nickel salt and a reducing agent. Elaboration conditions are studied for three commercially available baths; the composition and quality of coatings obtained on Inconel are indicated. A metallurgical study is reported with a study of desired criteria (porosities, hardening possibilities), of the evolution of physical-chemical and structural properties of these alloys.
